Women and Child Found Dead Across India, Brazil, Australia; Probes Launched
Authorities investigate separate cases involving alleged domestic violence, workplace harassment, and suspicious circumstances across three continents.
The bodies of at least five women and a two-year-old girl have been discovered in separate incidents across India, Brazil, Australia, and the United Kingdom in recent days, according to local authorities. The deaths, spanning three continents, have prompted investigations into allegations of domestic abuse, workplace harassment, and suspicious circumstances.
In India, three deaths were reported. In west Delhi, a 26-year-old woman died by suicide after recording videos alleging harassment by her husband and in-laws, police said; her husband has been detained. A 24-year-old woman was found dead in a rented room in the same district, with her family alleging cruelty by her in-laws. In Belagavi, Karnataka, a 24-year-old factory worker was found dead on the premises of Hindalco Industries; a note recovered by police referred to injustice against local youths and money demanded for job regularisation, and his family alleged workplace harassment. Separately, in Bengaluru, a 45-year-old businessman was found dead in the apartment of a Kannada film actor; police said he had been facing personal issues and had sent distress messages before his death.
In Brazil, a 43-year-old homeless woman was found dead in the centre of Mogi das Cruzes, São Paulo state, on Thursday morning. It was the second death of a homeless person in the city centre in less than 24 hours. Authorities said there were no apparent signs of violence, and the case was registered as a suspicious death. The woman had been living on the streets for six months due to drug addiction and had refused shelter offers, according to municipal officials. In Sydney, Australia, an 84-year-old woman was found dead at an aged care facility in Rooty Hill late Thursday. A 53-year-old woman, described as a relative, was arrested at the scene and taken to hospital under police guard. Detectives are continuing their investigation.
In the United Kingdom, a trial is underway at Teesside Crown Court where a mother and her partner are accused of murdering her two-year-old daughter. Prosecutors allege the child suffered 21 fractures and a fatal head injury after weeks of violence and sexual assault. Both defendants deny the charges.
All cases remain under active investigation, with post-mortem examinations pending in several instances. No definitive causes of death have been released for the Brazilian and Australian cases, and Indian police have not yet confirmed the circumstances behind the Bengaluru businessman’s death. The UK trial continues.
