Emergency services in Italy, the United States and Mexico responded to separate amusement-ride failures over the weekend that left more than two dozen people, most of them minors, trapped or injured. The incidents, occurring within 48 hours on three continents, involved a stalled rotor ride in northern Italy, a disabled roller coaster on Long Island and an inflatable structure thrown by winds in Mexico.

In Villanova Canavese, near Turin, eight teenagers were left suspended when a ‘Booster’ ride halted roughly 30 metres above ground at around 22:00 on Saturday, according to Italian firefighters. Four were inverted in their seats. Rescue crews lowered all to safety; none required hospital treatment. Carabinieri intervened after a parent entered the ride’s technical area, temporarily complicating operations. The owner attributed the stoppage to an electrical fault; police confirmed all permits were valid and the ride resumed later that night.

On Friday evening in Farmingdale, New York, a ‘Wave Twister’ roller coaster at Adventureland park stopped at a height of seven metres, stranding 15 children aged five to twelve and one adult for more than three hours, Suffolk County police reported. Firefighters used elevating platforms and harnesses to lower each passenger individually; the last reached the ground at 22:39. No injuries were recorded. The park, which inaugurated the ride months ago, said it maintains a ‘solid safety record’ but will keep the attraction closed pending an external technical investigation.

In Torreón, Mexico, at least ten children were injured Saturday when gusts lifted a large inflatable play castle up to 10 metres in the air, local media said. Witnesses reported the structure was stopped from further ascent by a conference-centre roof. Injuries varied in severity, and authorities in Coahuila state opened an investigation into the anchoring of the inflatable.

Formal inquiries are continuing in all three locations. No deaths have been reported, but the cluster of failures has refocused attention on ride safety protocols and adverse-weather procedures in multiple countries.
