In Curitiba, Brazil, a municipal bus driver was attacked on 10 July after a passenger falsely claimed his mobile phone had been stolen. The driver stopped the vehicle, checked the man’s bag and found the device, after which the passenger jumped the turnstile and stabbed him with a knife. Two female passengers intervened, restraining the attacker’s arm, and the driver was taken to hospital with wounds to his arms and chin; his condition is stable, the transport company said. The suspect was detained at the scene. In Coles Bay, Tasmania, police reported that two masked men armed with crowbars entered a home at 5 a.m. on 11 July, tied up the occupant with cable ties, and forced him to open a firearms safe. Nine guns, cash and a vehicle were stolen before the house was set on fire. The victim was treated for non-life-threatening injuries, and detectives said they believe the attack was targeted.

On Italy’s Adriatic coast, a 23-year-old Moroccan woman told Carabinieri in Rimini that she was threatened with a knife, robbed of her phone and raped on the beach at Viserba during the night of 20–21 June. She said she knew the alleged attacker by sight. Medical staff at a local hospital documented injuries consistent with the account, and prosecutors have opened a preliminary investigation. In La Plata, Argentina, a 24-year-old woman filed a police complaint alleging that a ride-hailing driver made obscene advances and touched her head during a journey in the early hours of the morning.
