Yan Diomande has agreed the basis of a contract with Paris Saint-Germain until 2031, European media report, setting the stage for one of the most significant transfers of the summer window. The Ivorian forward has communicated to RB Leipzig his desire to join the French champions, and negotiations between the two clubs are accelerating. The move would mark PSG’s first major acquisition of the close season and is contingent on the departure of Goncalo Ramos to AC Milan, a deal already in place.

Diomande’s rise has been rapid. Born in Abidjan, he spent a brief spell at Spanish side Leganés before moving to Leipzig, where he scored 12 goals in the Bundesliga and 13 in all competitions this season, adding nine assists. His performances earned him the German league’s revelation of the year award. At the 2026 World Cup, he has started every group match for Ivory Coast, registering an assist against Curaçao, and is preparing for a last-32 meeting with Norway on Tuesday. Spanish outlet Marca notes that the teenager is viewed as a candidate for future Ballon d’Or contention.

Leipzig are seeking a fee close to €130 million for a player under contract until 2030. Liverpool had also positioned themselves to meet a nine-figure valuation, but Diomande opted for PSG, where Luis Enrique’s project and the promise of immediate silverware proved decisive. The French club, dominant in Europe in recent seasons, continues its policy of recruiting elite young talent, and Diomande is seen as a strategic piece for the attacking line.

The arrival of the Ivorian would trigger the exit of Goncalo Ramos. PSG have reached an agreement with AC Milan for the Portuguese forward, with the fee estimated at €74 million, potentially rising to €90 million with bonuses. Ramos spent three seasons in Paris, winning three Ligue 1 titles and two Champions Leagues, but never established himself as a regular starter under Luis Enrique. He did not start a single Champions League match this term, operating in the shadow of Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé, yet still contributed 45 goals in 131 appearances.

For now, Diomande’s focus remains on the World Cup. Ivory Coast’s knockout clash with Norway will be closely watched by the Parisian hierarchy, with the forward’s performances in the tournament already having accelerated the transfer talks.
