At least ten people were injured, one seriously, as repeated lightning strikes struck a popular amusement park in southern Sweden on Sunday, regional health authorities reported. The Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI) had earlier issued a yellow warning for thunderstorms across large parts of the area, and the park, Tosselilla Sommarland in Tomelilla, had closed rides and pools in anticipation of the weather.

According to Region Skåne, a woman in her mid-40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries. Two other adults were transported by ambulance, while a further two adults and five children later presented themselves at an emergency department with minor wounds. Medical sources described the injuries as primarily caused by splinters and small branches after lightning hit a tree on the site.

Initial accounts of the number hurt varied, with park employees initially citing four or five people struck by debris. Witnesses described moments of panic as families rushed to find shelter. Swedish public broadcaster SVT reported that the park had anticipated the storm and ensured no visitors were on rides or in the waterpark, but a group passing near the tree was caught in the falling material.

The park remained open after the storm passed, and management said existing safety routines would not be changed. No fatalities were recorded, and local officials were continuing to monitor those treated.
